Stand Up on MVM

It’s my birthday, so here’s a live Dave Matthews Band clip to give a little clue about what my vibe’s like.
Stay (Wasting Time) on MVM

Because this Dave Matthews track feels like a good soundtrack for tomorrow’s holiday here in the states.

Before Guitar Hero, before Rock Band, Bon Jovi ruled the airwaves with this monster from their Slippery When Wet album.

Because tomorrow is Valentine’s Day, and we all know what that tends to mean.

Happy “New Year’s Weekend Recovery Day.” Was this Dave Matthews Band track your anthem for the weekend, or were your celebrations a little…milder?
Don’t Follow on MVM

Bon Jovi can be good for big, anthemic rock songs.
This one is no exception, but I would like to suggest a slight political undercurrent while you watch. For those here in the states, this is election week (which includes deciding who will be the next PotUS). I would encourage you to vote – but to consider your vote. Don’t blindly vote “party,” but consider who you want as a leader, who you feel the best person is for the job (regardless of color, race, party affiliation, etc).
We’re not meant to follow, and unless you get out and vote that’s exactly what you’re doing.
Getting Rocked on MVM

This was the last big single for Def Leppard in the early 90s before Grunge took over the airwaves, and it’s still a track that I’ve been likely to include on mix tapes and playlists for high-energy/driving music.
Halo on MVM

Deep Blue Something… They are best known for “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” but the album it’s from (their 2nd, actually, which I don’t think I knew until putting this together), Home, has several other tracks that still hold up for me, twenty-some years after the album’s release.
This one is not only the next track on the album after BaT, but it’s also the only other charting single (such as it was… #102).
Creepin Up the Backstairs on MVM

I’ve mentioned my affinity for The Fratellis’ music before. (In fact, almost a year after their last album dropped, I’m still playing it all day on repeat while at work.)
This track is off of their first album.
Eat You Alive on MVM

This was the lead single from their Results May Vary album. Despite the less than stellar reviews, I actually liked the album – specifically because of the reasons critics seemed not to. I’ve always seen the album as an attempt to try different things, musically…as an artistic growth album, you might say. A decade on, I’m most likely to still actually listen to this one all the way through.
